The increase in bank interest rates is accompanied by the developer's strategy to improve the efficiency of housing complex construction. This efficiency is achieved through the enhancement of workforce skills. This has been anticipated by PT Superior Prima Sukses, the manufacturer of Blesscon Lightweight Bricks, by introducing the Blesscon Lightweight Brick Applicator (ABRI) program, launched since February 2022.
Blesscon Brand Manager, Yusuf Permadi, stated that since the opening of the third factory in Sragen, Central Java, in 2021, they have experienced a continuous demand for lightweight bricks from developers, distributors, and partner stores. Blesscon was also asked to conduct workshops for masons related to lightweight brick installation, given the number of masons who are not yet proficient in installing lightweight bricks.
Therefore, Blesscon launched ABRI with two sessions: Sharing Insights and Workshop Sessions. Each implementation of ABRI takes about two hours, inviting 30 masons. Yusuf mentioned that this event is intentionally kept small so that masons can freely ask questions and understand the workshop.
"We keep it small but frequent. So far, we have visited 10 locations in Central Java. The enthusiasm is extraordinary. There is almost never a shortage of questions, and during the workshop, everyone actively tries," said Yusuf in a written statement on Monday (21/11/2022).
In this workshop, Yusuf debunked various myths, one of which is the myth that brick installation is complicated. According to him, the installation of red bricks becomes complicated because it requires making a cement-sand plaster.
However, this is different from the installation of lightweight bricks, which is easier with mortar adhesive. This adhesive can be used immediately by just adding water. Thus, the installation of lightweight bricks becomes faster and more precise due to their larger size.
In addition, Yusuf also explained about the strength of the wall. He mentioned that the adhesion and strength of the wall are stronger than the pairing of red bricks. In case of fire, lightweight bricks do not easily conduct heat, thus slowing down the rate of fire. During an earthquake, lightweight bricks are more flexible in following the frame when shaken.
"This strength is returned to its purpose. The purpose of making it strong is for safety. Well, lightweight bricks are even safer than red bricks," he said.
Not only explaining myths, Yusuf also invited masons to prove it by installing lightweight bricks with adhesive mortar and plastering with mortar. According to him, this installation technique can make the work completed quickly.
Moreover, the myth that the wall cannot be nailed is also debunked in this myth. This is proven by the existence of fisher nails that can be used to create neater holes.
Yusuf hopes that the ABRI program presented by Blesscon can add value to the masons. Thus, they can be more prepared and confident if there are developers or individuals who need labor to build with lightweight bricks.
"So their livelihood doesn't die, not abandoned when developers and retailers start using lightweight bricks in Central Java," Yusuf explained.
On the other hand, one of the ABRI participants from Candimulyo District, Magelang Regency, Central Java, appreciated the program. Especially through the ABRI program, he could directly try installing lightweight bricks and debunk various myths.
"In this way, you can know for yourself, try it yourself. If there is no event (workshop), where do you try it? There isn't any," concluded Warto."
